Josh Johnson, BSU’s softball pitching coach, is offering another 5-week Pitching Academy at 5 Tool Academy this summer.
Johnson is an experienced NCAA Division I coach with Super Regional experience. He also played at the Major level of the North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) from 2004-2016 as both a pitcher and an outfielder. He was inducted into the NAFA Hall of Fame in 2013 and was the association’s MVP in 2014.
In addition to his current position as Ball State’s pitching coach, he was previously the pitching coach at the University of Texas at El Paso, University of Louisiana-Lafayette and served as the head coach at Faulkner State Community College where he was the winningest coach in the program’s history.
Taught on Wednesdays, the class will be taught on June 7 and 21 as well as July 12, 19 and 26. A session is offered at 5 p.m. for athletes who have limited or no experience in Johnson’s previous academies. Another session is offered at 6 p.m. for athletes who attended multiple pitching academies with Johnson or are experienced high school pitchers. Cost is $135 for all 5 sessions and includes a 5 Tool shirt.

We look forward to helping you develop your game in the circle this summer.
What are the age requirements for this clinic??
Thanks for your interest. We would recommend at least age 9 for an experienced pitcher or age 10 for a beginner. We also have outstanding instructors in Butler’s pitching coach Stacey Goyette or Ball State softball athletes Amanda Arnett and Carolyn Wilmes who can provide private lessons if your daughter is younger.
Feel free to email (info@5tool.net) or call 765.750.9310 if you have additional questions or would like to schedule a lesson.
