Josh Johnson, BSU’s softball pitching coach, returns to 5 Tool Academy for 4-week pitching academies. Classes will be offered for athletes in Grades 3-8 and High School.
Johnson is an experienced NCAA Division I coach with Super Regional experience. He also plays at the Major level of the North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) since 2004 as both a pitcher and an outfielder. He was inducted into the NAFA Hall of Fame in 2013 and was the association’s MVP in 2014.
In addition to his current position as Ball State’s pitching coach, he was previously the pitching coach at the University of Texas at El Paso, Univeristy of Louisana-Lafayette and served as the head coach at Faulkner State Community College where he was the winningest coach in the program’s history.
Taught on Wednesdays, the academies will run from June 1 – 22, with a second academy July 6 – 27. Each weekly session lasts one hour and enables athletes to refine their pitching skills with a top-rated coach. High school classes will be held at 4:30 p.m. and Grades 3-8 at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $109 for each 4-week academy and includes a shirt.
