After completing her highly successful collegiate softball career, Rachel Houck has joined Ball State’s softball coaching staff and is teaching at 5 Tool Academy. She is available for hitting, outfield and throwing lessons beginning June 6.

Just this week Houck was named to the All-Great Lakes Region Second Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for her outstanding season. She started every game for BSU in the 2017 season and lead the team with a .319 batting average. She scored 51 runs to achieve the highest total in the MAC and lead the team with 35 RBI’s. She also was 16 for 16 on attempted stolen bases.

Houck’s graduated from Mount Vernon High School where she lettered all four years in softball and basketball, finishing her career as the program’s all time home run leader. She was named the 2013 District Four Player of the Year and the IndyStar Sportswoman of the Year.

Houck joins 5 Tool’s already exceptional softball teaching team which also includes BSU’s Josh Johnson, Butler’s Stacey Goyette, former BSU assistant coach Lyndsay Gadbury as well as current and former BSU athletes Leigh McAnally, Amanda Arnett and Carolyn Wilmes. Combined, the team offers classes and private lessons in pitching, hitting, fielding, throwing and catching.
